The R&J Exhibit at the DiMenna-Nyselius Library features artwork, books, information and memorabilia pertaining to the story of Romeo and Juliet, in support of the R & J Project.

In the lobby, artist Deborah Gwiazdowski has created two opposing landscapes, urban versus classical, to explore and represent Shakespeare’s famous balcony scene. The story is given a pop culture twist with R&J: CSI, a series of police reports, newspaper clippings and “evidence” which chronicles the story of R&J from the perspective of a crime scene investigation. By utilizing specific contemporary references this exhibit hopes to encourage viewers to connect to the story’s universal themes of love, sex, conflicting loyalties and violence which are at the heart of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy.

On the upper level, Sonya Berlovitz’s costumes designs are featured.

The exhibit will be available through May 15th and was created by Prof. Jill Deupi of Art History and library staff members Elise Bochinski, Deborah Gwiazdowski and Grace Bissenden.  Don’t miss Romeo and Juliet performed on 4/20 – 4/24 & 4/26 – 4/28 at 8 p.m., 4/24 at 2 p.m. at  the Wien Theatre, Quick Center.
