Civic Engagement and Media Literacy: Evaluating Media Bias

Media Bias

Bias in media does not always mean that the information is wrong or untrue. News organizations may carefully fact check their stories but still demonstrate bias. What stories they choose to cover, how much coverage they give a story, and how they characterize the facts in a story. This page contains two Media Bias Charts that can be helpful in identifying political bias. Remember it is wise to consider a variety of sources to get a better understanding of an issue and challenge your own biases.
