2024 Summer Reading Challenge

Take on the 2024 Summer Reading Challenge!

What is the Summer Reading Challenge and how does it work?

The Summer Reading Challenge is open to Fairfield University students, faculty, and staff. The SRC is a great way to connect with other campus readers, find book recommendations, and/or motivate yourself to read! You set a reading goal and then read and log whatever books you want between May 6 - August 30, 2024. Print, ebook, & audio books all count. Each challenger will have their own Quip spreadsheet made for them to log their books but will be able to look at other Challenger's documents for book suggestions or to ask questions or comment.

How do I sign-up?

Click here to fill out the sign-up form. You can sign-up ANYTIME before the challenge starts on May 6th, or up until August 1, 2024.

What do I get for taking on the Challenge?

For every book you log by August 30th you will get one entry into a raffle to win prizes.Prizes are funded by the Library and the Fairfield University Store.

How do I find books to read?

Refer to the tabs on this guide!  You will also likely find titles from other Challenger's spreadsheets too.  In addition to borrowing books from us we hope you will utilize your local public library too. Or if you prefer to buy your books, consider purchasing from the Fairfield University Bookstore or your local bookseller.

What is Quip?

Quip is a University supported web based collaborative tool (similar to Google Docs) that is used by many Fairfield University classes and departments. You can use the desktop version or the app via a link we will share with you upon signing up for the Challenge. Since access to Quip requires Fairfield University NetID/password authentication your information will not be public for anyone outside the Challenge. If you are not familiar with using Quip, or would like a refresher, we will provide you with a brief overview.
