The film focuses on the remarkable works of artist Andy Goldsworthy, a native of Cheshire county, North West England. Members of the Fairfield community are encouraged to attend the showcase of Shun Li and the Poet on April 9th at 7pm in the Dimenna-Nyselius Multimedia Room. Andrea Segre directed this Italian film that was released in 2011. Shun Li in a single mother who constantly moves around and changes jobs in order to raise enough money for her son to move to Italy. She moves from Rome to Chioggia, Italy, where she is employed as a bartender who serves local fishermen. It is at this tavern in Chioggia where she meets Bepi, an Eastern European fisher. However, the story unfolds when the characters' relationship, composed of two different cultural backgrounds, is criticized by members of the Chioggia community. A 2011 documentary titled The Island President, directed by Jon Shenk, will be shown on April 2 in the DiMenna-Nyselius Multimedia Room. Mohammed Nasheed, President of the Maldives, brought his country out of nearly three decades of tyranny. After this noteworthy event happened, he was forced to speak up for the country's inhabitants, as the level of the seas were predicted to rise up to 36 inches. The population of the Maldives would be forced to move out of the islands without the political voice of Mohammed Nasheed.
