Five Minutes of Heaven

Image: Five Minutes of Heaven October 6, 7 p.m. DiMenna-Nyselius Library "Five Minutes of Heaven" (2009), directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel and starring Liam Neeson as the Belfast murderer of 19-year-old Catholic laborer, Jim Griffin, who was killed in 1975. The stunned witness to the murder was Jim's 11-year-old brother Joe (James Nesbitt). The two are scheduled to meet some 20 years later on a TV show.

We are pleased to offer an iPad for use by students, staff and faculty as part of a new pilot project. The iPad is available for use in the library on a first-come, first-serve basis for up to 3 hours. The iPad is loaded with a variety of apps including productivity suites (including apps to view and edit Microsoft Office documents), communication tools such as Evernote and Dropbox, news apps, public domain ebooks including the complete works of Shakespeare, education apps such as Blackboard Mobile, Mendelay, and several note taking utilities, and entertainment apps including a wide variety of sports apps. Users will be requested to complete a brief survey upon returning the iPad. If there is an app you would like installed, you may request it on the survey or by talking with a librarian.

We are pleased to add two new e-journal collections to our holdings: The Sage Premiere collection, and the Sage Deep Backfile collection. Combined, these collections give us access to over 550 new journals. In most cases, coverage is from the first issue to the current edition. Journals cover a range of disciplines including social sciences, humanities, health sciences, life and biomecial sciences, and engineering.

We have a new collection of nursing ebooks through Stat!Ref. Stat!Ref is a cross-searchable, full-text health information resource that includes calculation tools, a medical dictionary, patient information and core titles in general medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacology, pharmacy and more. Titles include: AACN Essentials of Critical Care Nursing, Ambulatory Care for the Nurse Practitioner, Davis' Drug Guide for Nurses, Guide to Culturally Competent Health Care, Oxford Textbook of Palliative Nursing, Stedman's Medical Dictionary, and many more.
