The Visual Resources Department is pleased to announce that Fairfield University's first hosted collection of over 1000 images on ARTstor is now available for use by the Fairfield University community. When you enter ARTstor you will see the collection entitled: Fairfield University Visual Resources Collection, under Institutional Collections. Click on it to see the entire collection, and when searching you can chose to search All Collections or just the Visual Resources Collection.

We are pleased to be able to provide you with more full-text options for your art research with our newest addition, Wilson's Art Suite. Art Suite provides full-text access to titles formerly available in Art Index. It also provides access to Art Index Retrospective and adds two new resources as well: Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals, and Art Museum Image Gallery. Our subscription to Art Suite also gives us access to Cinema Image Gallery. This database contains still images from movies, television and the entertainment industry. Include, still images of films in production, directors working on-set with the stars, set, costume and production design, as well as, hair and make-up shots and rare behind-the-scenes material.

We have a new database on trial at the Library: Social Explorer. Social Explorer provides access to U.S. demographic data through the use of interactive maps and data reports. Tools show demographic change that has occurred in the U.S. from 1790 through the present at a variety of geographic levels, including neighborhoods, counties, and states. A recent article on U.S. News and World Report online has some suggestions for writing your research papers. What were our favorite tips?
Many up-to-date research materials are now available electronically. The best place to start is not with Google, Bing, or Wikipedia but with E-reserves that the professor has listed. These are found at your school library's Web page (or, sometimes, the course Web page) and have been carefully selected for relevance, level of depth, and general appropriateness for your particular course. Next stop: the electronic resources (or E-resources) at the library Web page.
