Hello! This course guide has been created for students enrolled in HIST 3371: Arab-Israeli Conflict. In this guide, you will find several resources intended to help with your research paper.

The Assignment

You will be writing a 15-20- page research paper and must incorporate these KINDS of sources ten of which must be peer reviewed, with at least 15 total:

 

Background sources—to establish the context and importance of your research

Evidence sources (cases, examples)/primary sources—where you will explore the details and complexities of your topic

Argument sources—these sources advance your case/prove your point

Methodological and/or historiographical sources –how have others thought about or written about your topic?

Paper must: 

  • Show evidence of historical understanding of the conflict. This is especially important with cultural topics. 
  • Explore multiple points of view, even if you are advocating one viewpoint. Anticipate and account for the objections of the opposition. 
  • Contextualize and historicize the problem, issue, topic.

You may use up to 7 sources that we read in class.
