EN 102: Introduction to Contemporary World Literature

Welcome to the library research session for EN 102. Today we will work on your research assignment:

Finding Sources on Achebe's "Girls at War", Hosseini's Kite Runner, or Satrapi's Persepolis.

Research Requirements

Requirements [from Dr. O'Driscoll's assignment sheet]

The sources you find must fill the following requirements:

  • You MUST have one scholarly journal article: a book review does not count as a journal article.
  • You MUST have one scholarly book
  • You MUST have one encyclopedia article
  • You MUST have one popular source (newspaper, magazine, credible website, etc.).

So, in order to fulfill those requirements, you’ll need to distinguish between scholarly and non-scholarly sources.  Scholarly sources are peer-reviewed; you’ll find them in books from university presses, and articles from scholarly journals. You’ll also need to distinguish between an article and a book review.

·         Please note: before posting your sources, check what others have posted. You will NOT get credit for sources others have already posted.
