From Professor Bowen's Syllabus
This paper, which takes the place of a final exam, gives you the opportunity to examine a genre, author, or issue in children’s literature of your choice. You will be expected to develop a plan for exploring a genre, author, or issue, propose a reading list and read widely and write an essay. 30% of final grade. The final draft is due on our assigned exam period, May 8.
You should expect to read both primary texts (books by your author/illustrator, on this issue, or in this genre) and secondary texts (literary criticism or pedagogical research). You will do this project in stages, the first of which is the Proposal.
