Research assignment: 4 ½ – 5 pp. on Seamus Deane’s novel Reading in the Dark, Seamus Heaney’s Part Two, Section VII of Station Island, pp.77-80, and Heaney's poem "Casualty" from his collection Field Work (1979). Requirement: three secondary sources (peer reviewed) with annotations.

These works center on the sectarian violence in Derry, North of Ireland during the mid-20th century and its impact on family life.
