Background Sources: This tab provides examples of the type of background sources you may find useful for starting your research. Background sources are specialized dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, etc that can help give you an overview of a topic, give you definitions of key terms, and point you in the direction of further reading. Note that these aren't the types of sources you want to cite in your papers. Rather, they are designed to give you a starting point and key terms that you can use to find the types of resources you can cite. We have many more background sources for you than the ones I've listed here. To find more, use the search box on the Finding Books tab and limit your results to Reference.
