Finding Books & Related Media

In addition to being useful resources themselves, books (print and electronic) can help you to get overviews on broad topics and to identify citations to related sources (among other things).

  • Find books and ebooks owned by Fairfield using the library catalog.‚Äč

Get access to Fairfield-owned ebooks by logging in with your NetID and password.  If you find relevant hardcopy books, you can request that they be held for you by clicking on the "Request It" link at the top of the catalog record.

  • To find books not owned by Fairfield, use WorldCat.

You will find many books in WorldCat not owned by Fairfield, but you can still request them—as well as book chapters and articles—by using interlibrary services.  Log in using your NetID and password.

In order to find books in either catalog, conduct either a relevant:

Keyword Search (good for finding a specific topic).  Some examples:

(See the Search Tips tab for more information on how to construct keyword searches.)

Or Subject Search (good for seeing all the research on a specific author or literary work).  Some examples:

(To find more subject headings, look on the catalog records of relevant books or limit your searches to the subject field.)
