Academic Dishonesty Consequences

Academic Dishonesty Consequences

Fairfield University takes academic honesty very seriously.

According to the course catalog, in the event of such dishonesty, including plagiarism:

  • professors are to award a grade of zero for the project, paper, or examination in question
  • professors may record an F for the course
  • when appropriate, expulsion may be recommended
  • notation of the event is made in the student’s file in the academic dean’s office
  • may impact academic standing and therefore legal immigration status

And fallout from academically dishonest practices doesn’t end when you graduate. People who cheat or plagiarize can lose their jobs and/or their vocational licensures, face legal action, have graduate school admissions revoked, or be publicly called out for unethical behavior.
