Crowdsourcing projects enable researchers to draw on the power of mass editing, research, reporting, transcribing, and describing to analyze datasets that are too large or complex for automation. Contributing to crowdsourced projects allows users to engage with and reflect on information creation processes that may otherwise be obscured, and to interact with datasets from many different disciplines in a way they might not when reading completed scholarship.
