SciFinder-n User Guide

In order to use SciFinder-n, you must create a SciFinder-n account. If you have already created an account, you can access SciFinder-n directly here:​

If you don't have an account, you must first create one. To do that, you must use the link in step 1 below:

SciFinder is now SciFinder-n!

As of July 1, 2019, DiMenna-Nyselius Library now subscribes to SciFinder-n. If you previously had an account with SciFinder, you will be able to log into SciFinder-n using the same username and password, no changes necessary. We strongly encourage you to migrate your saved answers and alerts ("Keep Me Posted") from SciFinder to SciFinder-n. You can do this by:

  • Clicking the Bookmark icon to access the migration feature, found on the Saved Answers page

Creating a SciFinder-n Account

Step 1.  Create an account

Go to this page and register using your fairfield.edu email.

Step 2. Confirm account registration. 

Once you have created an account, SciFinder-n will email you a link that you have to click to confirm your registration. NOTE: Your account is not complete until you click the confirmation link. If you click on the link from on-campus (recommended) then your registration is complete and you can begin using SciFinder-n. If you are confirming your account from off-campus, proceed to Step 3.

Step 3. Create Proxy Link for Off-Campus Usage

If you want to confirm your SciFinder-n registration from off-campus, you can use this tool to help you affix the university proxy to the link that SciFinder-n sends you.

A. Copy and paste your SciFinder-n confirmation URL here:

C. Copy and paste the resulting link into your browser to confirm your SciFinder-n subscription.

Searching for Full Text

SciFinder-n works a little different than most of our other databases. When you click on the link that says "Full Text," it doesn't necessarily mean that the full text is available. Instead, clicking this link searches all of our other databases to see if we have access to the full text of the article. If we don't, be sure to request the article via interlibrary loan!
