Integrating Library Resources into Blackboard

Full-Text Articles

Permalinks

Permalinks are URLs created for library resources like full-text articles and books. The URLs at the top of browsers often expire once you close the browser window, permalinks are created with the purpose of being usable for long periods of time. In general, you want to obtain and use permalinks when integrating library resources into Blackboard or any LMS.

To learn how to obtain permalinks from library databases, please visit our guide.

Linking to Articles in Blackboard

In the left-hand menu within Blackboard course click on Course Content.

Hover your mouse over Built Content and select Web Link.

Fill out the form. We recommend providing the full citation within the text box.

Select whether you want the article to open in a new window or within the same window. We recommend setting the article to open in a new window.

Alternatively, if you have a PDF of the article you can provide access to that instead of linking to our databases. Use the same form, but look for Attachment Files under the text box.

Once you have completed the form, click Submit in the bottom-right. Your students may now access the full-text article by clicking on the link or file that you provided. If you included a proxy prefix (see our permalink guide), off-campus students may access the article after logging in with their NetID.
